How to record a clip using VLC Media Player

Many of us have the habit of using a software just for one particular reason and failing to understand and knowing exactly the full function of a software. For example you download a media player software just for the purpose of playing your video file on your PC and having a understanding that a media player software was just meant to play a video file and that's all to it.

As for now, we going to probe further into other functions of VLC Media Player a very popular media player that most of us had been using. One of the function that i'm going to show here is that how to record a clip from a video file.You can also able to record a streaming video (e.g Sport matches) with VLC and keep the clips for your own collection.This is one of the great feature that VLC Media Player offer which i believe some of us doesn't know about it.Below are step by step guide on how to record a clip using VLC Media Player.
Click on the VLC icon to open your VLC Media Player.

 

As default your VLC Media Player will look just like the above screenshot.


On the Menu bar, Click on 'VIEW' and navigate to 'ADVANCED CONTROLS'

 Once you click on 'ADVANCED CONTROLS',you will see a different look from your media player.
Additional 4 tabs appear on your player.Every tabs having a different function.
But for today we going to click on the record tab (the tab with a red color circle) to record a clip. 

Now Play any of your video file.While the video is playing try to click on the record tab. 
 It will start to record immediately.Try to record a few mins clip.
Once you done recording, click again on the record tab to stop recording.

As default, VLC will save all your recorded clips to 'My Documents'
To view your recorded clip, go to 'My Documents' and start to play it.
You can change the saved location from 'Preference' options.
